Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers expands with new James Street location
When Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers first launched in Brisbane, demand for the gnoccheria’s heavenly potato clouds was widespread from the jump. In order to cater to the inner-city crowd’s insatiable appetite for its product, the Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers team opened a pop-up location on James Street, alleviating the load on its Paddington HQ. As the brand expanded with more bricks-and-mortar spaces, the James Street pop-up closed, leaving locals with a gnocchi-sized hole in their hearts – that is, until now. Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers has made its triumphant return to Brisbane’s flourishing high street, opening a new permanent locale that is dishing up serve after serve of rich and pillowy soft pasta.
Christmas has come early for locals of Brisbane’s inner-north suburbs – Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers has come back to James Street with a brand-new bricks-and-mortar outpost. The new spot is nestled a stone’s throw from the site of its former pop-up – just across the road from Sage Hotel and Tippler’s Tap in a sturdy brick building that formerly housed Fogata Latin Fusion. The Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers team has divided the restaurant space, occupying just over one half (as well as an al fresco deck area and some footpath dining) to create a nice rustic mid-point between its takeaway-oriented Paddington joint and its larger South Bank diner. While catering perfectly to grab-and-go orders and casual walk-in dinners, the gnoccheria’s arrival also marks an expansion of the brand’s delivery radius, which now includes Herston, Bowen Hills, Fortitude Valley, Newstead, Teneriffe, New Farm, Albion, Ascot, Hamilton, Windsor and Lutwyche.
Gnocchi Gnocchi Brother’s lauded menu of Italian eats has been transplanted in full to James Street, with gnocchi being the natural starting point. Seven kinds of gnocchi are available to savour, including the likes of traditional beef bolognese, wild mushroom and truffle, creamy basil pesto, lobster and barramundi, and a vegan-friendly option (each coming with a few slices of bread to swipe through the sauce at the end). Also gracing the menu are sides such as marinated olives, salt-and-pepper calamari, truffle-salted chips and fresh mesclun house salads. Sweets are a big fixture at Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers James Street, leading with the Sicilian ricotta cannolo, slices of Nonna’s lemon cake, vanilla-bean, passionfruit or raspberry panna cotta, and classic Italian tiramisu. Feasting is thirsty work – thankfully each mouthful can be chased with a swig of Peroni, a gulp of Italian wine or a sip of SOFI Spritz. The Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers home-delivery ordering platform also includes access to DIY cook-at-home batches of potato gnocchi and gourmet pantry ingredients (think ready-to-use sugo, unfiltered Sicilian extra-virgin olive oil and black-truffle oil).
