Street-food battles at Friday Nite Snackdown

Street-food battles at Friday Nite Snackdown

Join a buzzing culinary cook-off every Friday evening, when some of the world’s most beloved cuisines and food themes battle it out for the Friday Nite Snackdown title.

Friday knock-off drinks have just stepped up a notch. Forget awkward chat over a warm beer in the office; new event series Friday Nite Snackdown is all about interesting, affordable bites, local brews and a casual, friendly setting. The man behind the mission is Brisbane chef Ben Devlin, whom you may know from Beerkary Bakery fame. Ben has joined forces with food-business incubator Wandering Cooks to launch the new initiative, which is sure to lure local workers to South Brisbane.

Held in the carpark of the Fish Lane warehouse every Friday evening from 4:00–10:00 pm or until sold out, the Friday Nite Snackdown will see two different styles of cuisine going head to head each week. Purchase as many $4 tokens as you like and choose from a range of plates valued from $4–12, after which you can vote for your favourite, who will then be invited to compete again the following Friday. Tomorrow, Friday March 6, will see Japanese and Danish street food battle it out in the ‘Samurai vs Viking’ Snackdown; swing by to bite into plates of yakitori skewers, ristet hotdogs and pork skin crackling. Check out the weekly menu on the event’s Facebook page.
