New bar Fourth Wall opens in Fortitude Valley
The fourth wall in theatre terms is the imaginary boundary between the stage and audience – an invisible frontier that grants a glimpse into an imaginary abyss that straddles reality and a dream. Standing outside and looking in through the glass front of new Fortitude Valley bar Fourth Wall, you will be transported to this otherworldly place.
Warm and ambient with candles guiding the way to the bar, Fourth Wall emulates this theatrical barrier – only this is one curtain you can cross. The creation of Chris Denman and partner Stevie Waite, Fourth Wall is the pair’s first solo venture after many years behind the bar at X&Y and Kerbside.
For those who like their drinking dens more casual and homely, Fourth Wall emits an atmosphere of having dropped a bar right into the middle of your lounge room, with an intimate gathering of friends over to keep you company. Keeping things simple and unpretentious, this new bar serves up good-quality liquor for a good price, with no contracts on suppliers meaning the ever-changing array of drinks will take regular swillers on a journey. Behind the bar you’ll find a carefully curated selection of reds and whites, with Prosecco the house sparkling and Champagne available by the celebratory glass. Beers are all from Australian micro-breweries and there’ are six ciders to keep the hipsters happy.
Relax into mountains of cushions atop recycled wooden pallet seating, as eclectic beats ranging from old-school swing and blues to a smidge of Hilltop Hoods play overhead.
