Remove the fuss from honey collection with a Flow Hive

If you are an avid beekeeper, you might have heard the buzz around the newest invention from the team at Flow Hive, which allows for easy extraction of the sweet nectar from your own busy hive.

Stuart and Cedar Anderson are the inventors behind Flow Hive’s honey collection systems. Their desire to create a way to collect honey without disturbing bees and thus they developed the Flow Hive system – a two box frame that houses the queen bee and another where the honey is collected and stored.

Flow Hive specialises in manufacturing beehive frames that make honey extraction simple and painless. The Flow Hive frame consists of partly formed honeycomb cells on which the bees build upon with their own wax. Once a tap is turned the cells split and form channels through which the collected honey flows to a sealed tube at the base and out of a tap where the honey can be extracted.

The Byron Bay-based duo have just announced the completion of the project and readiness for sale. The Flow Hive development is funded by crowd sourced income and is available for purchase or support via IndieGoGo – check out their pledge page for more information on packages available.
