Farrier offers late-night eats to Fortitude Valley’s supper seekers
The Queen’s Arms on James Street has unveiled its brand new supper club, which offers Asian-influenced bites and meals into the morning hours.
As James Street has grown and shifted with the ever-changing Fortitude Valley nightlife, the tried-and-true Queen’s Arms Hotel has remained a consistent source of quality dining in a laid-back, pub-style atmosphere. Sensing a shift in demand for late-night dining in Brisbane, the QA’s proprietor Chris Condon decided to make a few changes to the establishment and, alongside head chef Jason Anderson, has turned the QA’s cellar and function space into Farrier – a supper club that blends contemporary dining with an intimate speakeasy atmosphere. Taking great care to maintain the heritage-profiled interior of the QA’s lower level, Chris transformed the space into an easy flowing bar that features seated dining and intimate drinking nooks, decorated with vintage furniture and wall art evoking the establishment’s past as a stable. Cosy lighting illuminates the exposed brick walls, while a beer garden has been installed for patrons who wish to step outside for some fresh air.
A new kitchen has been installed, which will be responsible for churning out the supper menu from midday to 2:00 am, seven days a week. Jason Anderson has created a menu of Asian-influenced and produce-driven food, with a distinct street-food aesthetic that is perfect for grazing. Dishes are easily shared, with mouth-watering nibbles and meals such as torn red curry brisket, organic chicken salads, BBQ lamb ribs, blow-torched scallops in crispy wafer tacos and deep-fried ice cream for dessert. The menu is fluid and will change seasonally to take advantage of the best produce available, in addition to seasonally themed drink menus. The bar is fully stocked with top-shelf spirits as well as a neat selection of wines and craft beers.
