Renowned eateries esquire and esq. to close next week

Two of Brisbane’s most renowned restaurants have announced their imminent closures. Ryan Squire’s esquire and sibling venue esq. will simultaneously wrap up after last service on Thursday March 29, leaving a sizeable gap in Brisbane’s fine-dining scene.

After seven years operating at the peak of Brisbane’s culinary landscape, award-winning chef Ryan Squires has announced that both of his celebrated eateries esquire and esq. will close before the end of March. An email sent to the restaurants’ mailing list revealed that the Brisbane City venue housing both concepts will wrap up operations after last service on Thursday March 29.

Ryan Squires followed up the news with a brief personal statement, thanking staff and regulars for their support over the last seven years and that the decision didn’t come lightly, but there are a number of reasons why this is the best time to close both restaurants. He also stated that he intends to take a break before seeking out new opportunities in the future. These closures herald another in Brisbane’s recent spate of high-profile cessations, following on from the closing of The Survey Co. in Burnett Lane, and Nativo Bar & Kitchen and Burnt Ends Bar & Kitchen at The Barracks. We look forward to hearing Ryan’s plans for the future.
