Esprosini, Kelvin Grove

Find freshly roasted coffee at Esprosini, Kelvin Grove

As you open the door to Esprosini, you quickly realise you are in for a special treat. Guests are welcomed by aromas from the kitchen, where passionate owner Pauline is pulling out a batch of muffins from the oven, and husband Mario is roasting a batch of coffee beans.

Distinguishing it from similar cafes in the area, Esprosini specialises in blended and single-origin hand-roasted coffee beans. A variety of blends and single origins is on the menu, with daily specials adding to the diversity. The Pan America is a creamy medium-bodied blend, with a hint of spice and delicate acidity, while the Mile High is a full-bodied blend, carrying floral notes with a citrus finish.

In Pauline’s wholesome foodstuffs, the secret to her success comes from the ingredients she uses. Fresh fruit and vegetables are hand-selected from Charlie’s Fruit Market in Everton Park, while the meat is sourced from a local butcher. The menu is divided into warm salads, toasted pita pockets, classic sandwiches, deli burgers and lasagne, and includes dishes like Cobb Salad with cos leaves, avocado, tomato, watercress, bacon, hard-boiled eggs and blue cheese.

Inside, the cafe is a light-filled space and the decor is simple, with wooden flooring and furniture throughout. A splash of colour is added with the addition of Pauline’s artworks, which hang on the walls of the upstairs sitting area. Graced with pots growing herbs like basil and rosemary, the tables outside also provide a welcome spot to enjoy a coffee and read the newspaper.
