Woolloongabba’s Electric Avenue delivers a charged new food offering
The team behind some of Woolloongabba’s hottest hotspots is shaking things up. Electric Avenue is putting the spark back into refined-yet-casual dining, with a new gastro-pub menu and a new ethos that’s all about ensuring that food and drink goes hand in hand.
When Electric Avenue opened to the public in April 2017, we were blown away by the venue’s stylish two-pronged approach to hospitality. The initial bistro-style dining paired exceptionally with the refined approach to cocktails and bar craft, but evolution was always on the cards for the venue, which followed up its debut with secret speakeasy Jack Rabbits a few months later. As the venue gradually attracted a larger drinking crowd, the Electric Avenue team decided to shift gears to better cater for large groups, with a new menu that eschews seriousness in favour of relaxed and flavour-packed food.
The new menu is following closer to a gastro-pub aesthetic, ensuring it remains accessible and caters to a huge range of tastes. Bar snacks such as rustic fries, chicken liver parfait and duck rillettes are great when paired with one of Electric Avenue’s cocktails, but if you’re keen to snack with friends then opt for the new pani puri with channa doal or the selection of soft-shell tacos. Substantial eats range from burgers to Creole chicken, ricotta gnocchi, pork loin and steaks, which will suitably satiate and line your stomach before moving on to the cocktails. A new menu isn’t the only change for the venue, which will be debuting events such as Drag Queen Bingo, burlesque shows, comedy nights and trivia in the coming months.
