e’cco bistro celebrates its 18th birthday
While most 18-year-olds are treated to lavish presents and the right to vote on their birthday, Brisbane City’s e’cco bistro is the one giving out the gifts as it reaches its coming of age and takes its first bold steps into adulthood.
Less than 20 years ago, it was an historic tea warehouse slumped in a forgotten part of town. Today, it’s one of Brisbane’s most beloved culinary gems. As renowned chef Philip Johnson’s first Brisbane restaurant, e’cco bistro helped breathe new life into the neglected outskirts of the city and the dining scene of 1990s Brisbane. Now, 18 years later, the bistro is celebrating the rite of passage with a special menu available until Saturday August 10. Some of the restaurant’s most beloved dishes will be back on the tables, with Philip and head chef Sam Brading treating tastebuds to delights like potato gnocchi with gorgonzola, spinach and pinenuts, crisp-skin Moroccan chicken with cous cous, yoghurt and butter beans, and roast lamb rump with caponata and balsamic potatoes.
