TWE Eat Local Week

Celebrate the farm-to-table movement at Eat Local Week

Located just over an hour’s drive south of Brisbane, the Scenic Rim region boasts an abundance of fresh produce, quality wines and gourmet goods like olives, relishes and cheeses. Take a roadtrip this weekend and spend some time grazing on the area’s bounty.

Strengthening the link between farmers and consumers, and encouraging home-cooks to focus on fresh, local and seasonal, Eat Local Week will offer a smorgasbord of tastings, farm tours, cooking classes and shared feasts this month. From this Saturday June 28 to Sunday July 6, the Scenic Rim region will become abuzz with farmers, artisan food producers, winemakers and of course hordes of hungry festival-goers.

The program is packed with plenty of gems for foodies and families, like the Farm Gate Festival and Best of Tamborine Mountain Food Trail this Saturday, the daily Eco Rangers Bush Tucker Excursion, the Kalfresh Carrot-Picking Field Day next Saturday and Market Day at the Organic Shed next Sunday. The signature Winter Harvest Festival event next Saturday July 5 will see visitors sampling goods, meeting the makers, viewing cooking demonstrations from celebrity chef Alastair McLeod and enjoying the buzz of the festival’s famous tractor-pulling competition.
