Duck into Bean. to escape the busy city streets

A sea of blue-checkered shirt-wearers swarm like a pack in all directions, while the sound of heels clacking on the uneven pavement fills the streets. Every now and then someone will break from the flock, ducking down a shadowy alleyway, unbeknownst to the others. They’re not being mysterious though; they’re just in tune with the latest underground coffee haunt at which to escape the bustle of the city streets above.

Coffee cranny Bean. has a popped up (or should I say down?) in the keg-inhabited laneway near Flight Centre off George Street. Sharing The Bunker Boutique’s underground digs, they’re serving up a sweet drop of Campos Coffee.

With simple accompaniments of muffins and banana bread to start, they’ll be expanding their menu to include the city-breakfast required smashed avocado on turkish soon.

Taking a no frills approach, the space includes just the essentials – where ‘essentials’ means astroturf, a record player and classic novels.

This new city nook run by Disco Entertainment is simplicity and cosy escapism at its best.

Psst… we hear Bean. may be open all day on Saturdays soon.
