Practise Conscious Consumption at Wandering Cooks

Celebrate local produce and learn about food sustainability at the first ever Conscious Consumption event this Saturday.

Passionate advocate of conscious consumption and waste minimisation, Stone & Wood Brewing, has joined forces with OzHarvest and Slow Food Brisbane to launch the first-ever Conscious Consumption event in Brisbane. Held at South Brisbane’s Wandering Cooks from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm this Saturday December 6, the community event will educate guests about food sustainability, provenance and waste minimisation.

QAGOMA executive chef Josue Lopez will join fellow speakers including Food Connect CEO Robert Perkins, Slow Food Australia international councillor Amorelle Dempster, OzHarvest health and food expert Dr Sarah Lantz and Stone & Wood co-founder Ross Jurisich to discuss the paddock-to-plate philosophy. Stone & Wood will donate two Braham-style Angus cows, which have been fed on spent grain – a by-product of the brewing process – as ten food experts feature less common cuts of meat in a range of delicious dishes. Of course, liquid satisfaction will come in the form of craft beer from Stone & Wood’s beloved caravan Bonnie and live tunes will add to the festive atmosphere. Entry is free and all profits from food and beverages sold on the day will be donated to OzHarvest and Slow Food Brisbane. Guests can pre-order plates from sample sizes through to mains, family banquets and ten-dish degustations online.
