Wall-high blackboards share the day’s specials, pots of flowers adorn the tables and a cabinet of cakes teases as you nourish your hunger with the essential morning eggs.

Always a battle between sweet and savoury, Comfort At My Table makes no attempt to simplify the decision. The French toast with crispy bacon, (pink) poached pear, ricotta and maple-toasted almonds is a standout option, pairing up against the Nimm’s Eggs, featuring soft poached eggs, crispy bacon, pesto and roast tomato with the unique flavourings of banana chutney. Gents might like to try the One Pan Fry Up of cheese kransky, thyme chats, mushrooms, fried egg, spinach, farmhouse chutney and seeded mustard on rye – one of the larger meals to grace the very well-priced menu.
