Taste hot sauce with Scorpion Moruga chillies at Clem & Franks

Country radio morning presenter Dan Rennie along with his wife Alexandra are newbies to the market food scene, bringing together all of their great loves; really hot chillies, dogs and beef jerky. The result is one explosion of a market stall, Clem & Franks.

If you are heading down to the Red Hill Farmers Markets this weekend you are sure to come across Clementine and Frank, two colourful and friendly Pugalier dogs (a cross between pug and cavalier) who are generally surrounded with doting children. Clementine and Frank have been a great source of inspiration for Dan and Alexandra, who spend their spare time hand-making hot chilli sauces and jerky (of the dog and human snack kind) under the creatively named and marketed brand Clem & Franks. Not only do Clementine and Frank devote their names to the brand, their faces are also creatively imprinted upon each bottle of hot sauce.

Made from Scorpion Moruga chillies that originate in Trinidad, the Clem & Franks hot sauce is a must for any chilli lover. Dan and Alexandra have planted out their backyard with these chilli trees, living proof of their love for chilli. The hot sauce comes in three flavours; Original which is hot (but will not blow your socks off) and has a full flavour, the Paleo which is the Original with the brown sugar substituted with medjool dates and the Mega Hot sauce which is essentially a 9.5 out of 10 on the chilli rating. This one will certainly blow your head off, so extreme caution is advised. Alexandra has also been experimenting with the hot sauce on the beef jerky and this new product has recently been made available at the markets.

On the doggy side of things Clem & Franks stock dog bandanas and a beef a parsley jerky, as a healthy snack for your fury friends. If you are in need of a spicy base for your Mexican dish or curry, or a marinade for your barbecue then Clem & Franks hot sauce is certainly a memorable flavour enhancer.
