Norman Park perks up with stylish sanctuary Clancy’s Espresso

The local coffee bolthole is a must for any suburb, no matter how large or small. You know the kind of place we’re talking about – the spot where the barista knows your name and order, where the pour is consistent and satisfying. We’re talking about the kind of personal touch that you don’t quite get at the larger, inner-city eateries. Clancy’s Espresso is a new cafe and coffee nook situated in a prime position in Norman Park, offering all of the above as well as terrific specialty coffee, primo pastries, a classy fit-out and plans to become a hub for locals with a menu of satisfying grub.

Those cruising down the Norman Park stretch of Wynnum Road recently might have caught a glimpse of a chic cafe in the works on the corner of Balmoral and Hipwood Streets. Well, we can confirm that this spot is the home of Clancy’s Espresso, an uber-cool destination for coffee lovers that has opened this week. Clancy’s Espresso is the result of a partnership between hospitality veteran Clancy Sonter-Kelso and Woodsters head honcho Ollie Burscough, who have teamed up to realise Clancy’s dream of bringing a boutique coffee spot to the area. Ollie’s schmick fit-out has made the most of the triangular interior space, installing a sizeable kitchen while still having room for interior seating, complemented by a minimalist and fresh aesthetic that is a quintessential element of all Woodsters work.

Clancy is kicking things off with a concise combo of coffee, tea and pastries before unveiling a full menu in the coming fortnight. Single O is the coffee of choice here, while West End Tea Co has come on board to stock its loose-leaf organic tea. The selection of pastries has been sourced from Jocelyn’s Provisions, but patrons can soon expect a great range of bites to enjoy in-house or to grab and go. If the sound of bagels stuffed with fresh ingredients and nourishing cafe fare activates your almonds, then be sure to stop by Clancy’s Espresso soon to scope out the full menu.

Clancy’s Espresso is open now! To find opening hours and location details, pop over to the Stumble Guide.
