Latrobe Terrace welcomes new cafe Chapter IV

As you make your way around the bend on upper Latrobe Terrace, you’ll be greeted by a new friend. Chapter IV has settled in to the Paddington strip, pleasing its guests with wholesome food alongside decadent treats.

It is hard to believe that Chapter IV only opened its doors a week ago – the cafe has comfortably moved in to its new home and embraced it as its own. A warm glow spills into the bright and airy space from the wide front windows, casting criss-cross shadows over the mismatched chairs that sit side by side in unison. Fresh flowers adorn each table, a bright contrast to the white-washed walls and dark timber floors. You’ll also find a collection of hand-painted stools popping up next to tables or against the walls, featuring ultra-cute foodie characters and quotes such as ‘kale me maybe’, ‘you stole a pizza my heart’ and ‘you’re my butter half’. The cafe also boasts a long breezy back balcony with a leafy outlook, and a charming astro-turfed children’s play room.

Chapter IV’s menu features all-day breakfast options such as truffle-roasted field mushroom on sourdough with rocket, Danish fetta and roasted cherry tomatoes, a sweet potato and zucchini fritter stack with avocado and tomato salsa, or the slightly more decadent maple waffles with Nutella, fresh berries, ice-cream and hazelnut crunch. Lunch is served from 11:00 am, with tasties including a barbecue chicken and kale salad with roasted sesame dressing, pulled-pork sandwich on a brioche bun with aioli, coleslaw and a choice of sweet potato or beer-battered chips, or slow-cooked massaman lamb shank with roti bread and cucumber pickle. Chapter IV’s hours will soon be extending, with a tapas menu to be added for evenings at the end of the month.

When sweet cravings strike meander over to the cabinet, which proudly displays an array of colourful sweet treats made fresh in-house. You might find mocha praline or cookies and cream cupcakes, or press your face into a decadent layered rainbow sponge cake, red velvet cake or lemon meringue pie. If you prefer your sweets guilt free, you’ll always find a vegan, raw and gluten-free option, such as peanut butter slice.
