Fortitude Valley’s music mecca The Zoo set to debut its new and improved look

One of Brisbane’s oldest and most beloved live music venues is getting a new lease on life. The Zoo has been given a serious sprucing to make it more comfortable for punters and bands, incorporating some slick new elements without sacrificing any of the rough and tumble charm that has made it the go-to spot to catch live music for the past 25 years. While the look is being kept under wraps until the relaunch on Saturday February 4, we’ve got the scoop on what you can expect. more

Sample the flavours of the state with e’cco bistro’s venison tartare

And the winners are … 2016 EAT/drink Awards announced!

Now that 2016 is over, we relish the opportunity to celebrate all of the coffee haunts, drinking dens and dining destinations that helped craft a truly unique Brisbane food experience throughout the year that was. It was a busy 12 months of openings (and a few heartbreaking closings) in local dining, and we can’t help but be proud of our city’s food culture. more

Eighteen months ago he stepped away from the restaurant to embark on a new solo venture and the result, at last, is Detour. more

Sink your teeth into The Charming Squire’s iconic spit-roast pork

We love Queensland produce – how could you not? The abundance of amazing farms throughout the state putting premium foodstuffs on our plate every day is continually astounding. We celebrated the best in Queensland produce with our Taste of Queensland Awards last year, which saw dozens of entrants vie for top spot in a range of categories. The Charming Squire blew us away with its banoffee pie, but there is so much more Queensland-grown goodness featured throughout the menu. We’ve decided to spotlight another dish that you simply must try – The Charming Squire’s spit-roast pork served with Salardaise potatoes and heirloom tomato salad. more

Wooloowin welcomes new hidden brunch oasis Shambhala Espresso

First, a little lesson in Sanskrit. Shambhala is a Sanskrit term meaning a place of peace, tranquility and happiness. It is a mythical paradise kingdom spoken of in many ancient texts, a place where one can find true bliss. Although it may be mythical in texts, a leafy garden espresso bar of the same name has made a home for itself in Wooloowin to offer the tranquil bliss you seek – especially if your idea of bliss is all-day breakfast and coffee. more
