Louis Tikaram gives Brisbane a glimpse of Stanley’s Cantonese cuisine

A wave of excitement rippled through Brisbane's dining scene last month when it was announced that heralded young chef Louis Tikaram would be returning to Australia to helm the kitchen at Stanley, down at the Howard Smith Wharves. Louis is wasting no time in making a great first impression – the chef will be hosting a pop-up dinner on Thursday September 26, giving guests a taste of the Cantonese-inspired fare he'll be whipping up come Stanley's opening in October. more

Bring out the florals and polish the champagne flutes – a new pop-up arrives for spring

There are a few key fundaments to celebrating the end of winter and start of spring. Outdoor activities, getting back to the beach, afternoon picnics – we immediately conquer most of these essentials once the warmer-weathered months return to the city. We also tend to find ourselves a little more inclined to a couple of social drinks (can you blame us?). You probably already have a faithful list of outdoor bars ready to revisit this spring, but there should always be room to try something new, and we know just the thing! more

The round-up: make your mum feel extra special with these Mother’s Day ideas

If we’re being honest, every day deserves to be Mother’s Day. Why? Well, you never really get a day off from being a mum – it’s a 24/7 gig. That being said, Mother’s Day is still a great opportunity to tell your mother how much she means to you. Of course, every mum is different and we can’t tell you what would be the most appropriate gift to give her this year (naturally, you’ve already given her your unending love). We can help make the choice easier, though! This year we’ve put together a nifty gift guide for different kinds of mums – from the mothers that enjoy the finer things in life, to those that rarely slow down. This one goes out to all the mothers, young and old. We wouldn’t be here without you! more

Winner winner – sample Chokh Di’s Thai-style charcoal-roasted chicken

It’s a tale as old as time – a traveller in a foreign country has a whirlwind encounter with someone that would change their life forever. In Dan Finn’s case, his encounter wasn’t necessarily a romantic one, unless you count falling head over heels for Thai cuisine a love story (we do). While exploring northern Thailand Dan encountered a chap in Chiang Rai dubbed the ‘Chicken Guy’ – a local vendor of succulent charcoal-roasted chicken whose simple fare enamoured Dan’s tastebuds. Now, Dan is bringing a piece of the Chicken Guy’s fare to Brisbane, cooking up his own interpretation of northern Thai street food at a series of pop-up events. more

Riverbar and Kitchen makes Sunday sundowners a cinch

Although we’re technically nearing the end of summer, it’s ludicrous to expect the temperature to drop off dramatically any time soon. The mercury will still be high throughout March, which is good news for lovers of laid-back Sunday sessions. Riverbar and Kitchen is set to kick off its Corona Sunset Sessions series this Sunday February 24, with plenty of crisp beers to sip and tasty tacos to chow down on. more

U.S. celebrity plant-based chef Matthew Kenney is headed to Brisbane for a one-off degustation
