Parisian-inspired Paddington favourite The Rogue Rennard has extended its opening hours to offer drinks and dinner of a lazy spring evening. Previously operating as a daytime cafe, the venue is now fully licensed with head chef Steve Harry serving up a brief evening menu of dishes like chicken liver parfait, confit trout and smoked duck egg with king brown mushrooms. A carefully chosen list of beverages will accompany the goods on the plate, offering winners from Holgate Brewhouse, Moa Brewing Co and Little Creatures, as well as limited-run wines. The Latrobe Terrace cafe will be serving grateful guests until 10:30 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The lovely folk behind Two Trees espresso bar in West End have hopped one suburb over, opening a new space along Merivale Street in South Brisbane. Executing much of the handiwork themselves and recycling a lot of the original fit-out, Jordan and Mim have crafted a cafe of fresh white walls, warm wood and copper pipes. While the food licence should come through later this week, the cafe is still pouring its renowned espresso-based and cold-press coffee, as well as a Mörk hot chocolate sweetened with coconut blossom sugar. The new den’s seasonal menu may invigorate feelings of confusion and indecisiveness once launched, featuring dishes such as seasoned avocado on sourdough with housemade chipotle labneh, pulled pork sliders and cowboy baked beans with chorizo on sourdough.
