Announcing the Taste of Queensland Awards winners

We put the call out in early May for nominations for the Taste of Queensland Awards and are now excited to present to you the winners in each category of breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and cocktail. See, The Weekend Edition loves it when a Brisbane bar or restaurant serves up a culinary creation or cocktail using the best of Queensland produce – so much so that it jumped at the chance to partner with the Queensland Government for Queensland Week from June 4–12. The Taste of Queensland Awards celebrates the use of Queensland produce and recognises the support of local farmers, providores, bakers, brewers and gourmet artisans by Brisbane’s cafes, restaurants and bars. Congratulations to all of the winners and runners up in the inaugural awards! more

The Chefs Series: where your favourite chefs grab cheap, tasty eats

In Brisbane, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to top-notch eateries with brilliant culinary minds at the helm. But where do they go when they want to grab a quick bite? As part of The Chefs Series, we asked some of the winners and runners-up of the 2015 EAT/drink Awards – sponsored by Newstead Brewing Co. – to give us a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of Brisbane’s top chefs. For the second instalment, we checked in with five chefs to find out where they go to satisfy their hunger quickly, without maxing the credit card. more
