Cosy up at Brisbane’s first Cat Cuddle Cafe

Brisbane residents are flocking to Brisbane’s first ‘cat cafe’, where guests can snuggle with rescue cats while enjoying a slice of cake and a cuppa.

If the combination of cats, cake and coffee tickles your fancy, you’d best get in quick to book your spot at Brisbane’s popular new Cat Cuddle Cafe. Located on Musgrave Road in Red Hill, the venue is buzzing with cats and customers Tuesday through to Sunday, creating a warm and welcoming space where local rescue cats can be treated to some much-needed affection. After operating the non-profit Pussies Galore Rescue for 20 years, Brisbane resident Katina Balson launched a crowd-funding campaign to get the city’s first cat cafe off the ground. And it seems the people of Brisbane have spoken, with the venue gaining overwhelming community support and officially opening its doors in Red Hill last weekend.

Katina has teamed up with the Animal Rescue Support Network to offer rescue cats and kittens a safe temporary home, but the ultimate goal is to find them new permanent homes, with guests being able to adopt their new feline friends. But even if you’re not in the position to adopt, your support at the cafe will help fund the facilities as well as rescue work across Brisbane. Before you head into the Cuddle Zone, grab a takeaway cup of Prestige Organic Coffee with organic, soy or rice milk and a cruelty-free snack or sweet treat, such as a vegan Cloverly Cupcake, slice of banoffee pie or bliss ball. Entry to the cat cafe is $10 per hour and bookings are essential. Please note customers must be a minimum age of seven years, but custom sessions can be arranged.
