Bite into an apple treat from Carcamo’s Gourmet Caramel Apples

Remember the days when toffee apples were a popular weekend treat and cake stall favourite? The caramel was of course the most exciting part and many toffee apples came smothered in fancy coloured toffee and multi-coloured garnish.

Whilst kids of today have a myriad of treats to choose from, Carcamo’s Gourmet Caramel Apples are targeting grown ups with its version of this traditional apple icon. Julio Carcamo started Carcamo’s in 2013 after he recognised the sweet apple’s popularity in United States food culture. An entrepreneur at heart, Julio worked for almost a year to perfect his recipe and now his caramel is made using this secret recipe and using the original copper-pot method. Cooking the caramel in small batches using premium ingredients allows Julio to control the quality of his caramel. Getting his decedent result comes from using the best natural ingredients; the freshest cream, butter, pure cane sugar, natural vanilla and most importantly no trans fats, artificial colours or shelf-retaining preservatives.

Julio only sources the largest available grade A jumbo Granny Smith apples, mostly locally from Stanthorpe, direct from the grower. All apples are hand garnished with the highest quality Belgian-style chocolate and premium toppings. Carcamo’s Gourmet Caramel Apples are made ‘big’ with the purpose of sharing. Each apple once complete with garnishing weighs about half a kilogram and when sliced serves eight to ten people. Petite versions are also available in gift packs.

Carcamo’s are a unique dinner party dessert and wedding bomboniere as well as an edible gift. With flavours such as peanut apple, Snickers apple, cashew apple, fancy pecan, Oreo apple, M&M apple, Tim Tam apple, apple pie and triple chocolate, these caramel apples are certainly a memorable treat. Find Carcamo’s Gourmet Caramel Apples each weekend at the Eagle Farm Markets or monthly at the Twilight Makers Market, as well as major events around the country.
