Indulge in coffee and chocolate inside hidden oasis Cafe Aloft
Brisbane City’s various nooks and crannies are quickly filling up with an eclectic and interesting range of hotspots, making exploring the concrete jungle constantly rewarding. The latest hideaway to take up residence on Queen Street is Cafe Aloft, an elevated oasis of sublime java, moreish sweets and thirst-quenching juices.
Shaun Chapman is fond of hospitality spots that exist off the beaten track. As the current owner of Brew Cafe & Wine Bar, Shaun has been encouraging patrons to get out of their comfort zone and go exploring, with food, drink and shelter as a reward. This week sees the opening of Shaun’s second secret venture Cafe Aloft, which sits out of eyesight off Queen Street Mall above Australia The Gift store. The space – once home to the Noosa Chocolate Factory – boasts warm timber tones and plenty of seating for those looking for a spot of decompress when the City gets too intense. A beanbag area is on hand for maximum relaxation, where patrons can kick back with a coffee while taking advantage of Cafe Aloft’s free WiFi.
When it comes to consumables, Cafe Aloft’s offering is equal parts decadence and wholesome. Shaun has teamed up with gourmet chocolatier Mayfield Chocolates and I Heart Brownies to offer a selection of decadent treats, which is paired nicely with the warming brew made using the finest beans from Toby’s Estate. When the temperature drops, the cafe will serve Submarino – warming hot chocolate made from Mayfield Chocolate blocks, melted and stirred through. Patrons after something a bit less indulgent can opt for cold-pressed juices and probiotic drinks from Juzcit, a selection of teas as well as grab-and-go bites.
