Is this Australia’s biggest burger? Brooklyn Depot is inviting you to come and see for yourself

It takes some serious intestinal fortitude to become a competitive eater, not to mention a pretty active metabolism! While most of us will never be able to handle the caloric abundance of a full-on eating comp, Brooklyn Depot is giving fans of food-based challenges the chance to test their mettle by taking on what is being hailed as Australia’s biggest burger – a claim set to be tested by the country’s highest-ranked competitive eater. This monstrous morsel is not for the faint of heart or small of stomach – take a look …

How does a burger officially earn the title of Australia’s biggest? Is it based on the sheer amount of fillings, or do we judge based on the amount of people that have successfully eaten the burger? Many burger joints claim to serve the biggest and best, but who takes the crown? JWebby – Australia’s best competitive eater (and currently fifth in the world) – has eaten his fair share of burgers, and he’s keen to put the discussion to rest, once and for all. To do so, he tasked Danny Sibillo of Brooklyn Depot to craft a burger that can hold the title of biggest in the country and, well, let’s just say the results speak for themselves.

On Monday April 15, Brooklyn Depot in South Bank will officially unveil its colossal 1-m tall burger. Boasting approximately 80 beef patties and 80 slices of melty cheese, this is one whopper of a feast. JWebby will be the first person to tackle the megaburger, with guests welcome to watch his attempt from 6:00 pm – head to the Brooklyn Depot website for more info and to book a table.

Having tackled an assortment of food challenges around the world, JWebby may be the only one capable of polishing off Brooklyn Depot’s creation. That said, if you and a mate think you can take down the 1-m burger as a tandem, Brooklyn Depot is giving guests the chance to have a crack. Pairs can opt to put away a quarter-metre, half-metre or full-metre option (the venue requires 24 hours notice) – those that conquer the 1-m burger in less than 30 minutes score a Brooklyn Depot voucher and unassailable bragging rights.
