theobroma, chocolate pavillion, the dark chocolatier

Brisbane’s chocolate fetish continues with Theobroma

It seems the city has become overrun with chocolate fever, tempting deviations from any good new year intentions. With the introduction of three new cocoa-inclined additions to the city, it’s never been easier to indulge your sweet tooth.

The Dark Chocolatier

Following the opening of its retail space just up the road, Noosa Chocolate Factory has opened a second shop, The Dark Chocolatier, along Adelaide Street. The perfect pit stop to conquer a wandering brain come weekday afternoons, The Dark Chocolatier is serving Fonzie Abbott coffee and sweet nibbles. About the shop, rocky road is stacked in impressive pyramids along wooden shelving, while freeze-dried strawberries, chunks of ginger and many a nut are covered in delicious dark chocolate. These sweet bites lie in cloth-lined crates ready to be packed into takeaway tubs and enjoyed sneakily at your desk. The company’s non-alcoholic ciders are also now in-store, for those preferring a cooler afternoon treat.

Theobroma

A far cry from the packed boulevard of South Bank’s popular beach, Theobroma provides a quiet refuge from the bustle outside. Sample some (or all) of the myriad of treats available – the sweets den is a great spot to nibble on cakes, muffins, slices and cookies, washed down by an equally sugar-infused drink, with creamy milkshakes, hot and cold chocolates and coffees joining the menu. For those who aren’t afflicted with an affection for confectionary, there are also savoury bites to enjoy.

Chocolate Pavillion

Neighbouring Theobroma in South Bank is Chocolate Pavillion, another addition to the spreading number of chocolatey indulgence stores. An infatuation with Belgian traditions for making sumptuous cocoa-based goodies inspired this eatery, which crafts steamy hot cocoas and tempting handmade desserts. You can also indulge in some royal delights in-store, with shelves lined with the chocolates of Mary Chocolatier, which is host to the revered title of Purveyor to the Royal House of Belgium.
