Down a few cold ones at Woolloongabba’s revamped Brewhouse

Your traditional corner pub has evolved! The iconic Clarence Corner Hotel has undergone a massive transformation recently, with the team behind Brisbane Brewing Co. taking the reins and overhauling the iconic pub inside and out. Brewhouse takes classic pub culture to new heights, blending popular old-school characteristics with a contemporary approach to food and drink.

The space
Regular patrons of the Clarence Corner Hotel might notice some significant changes to the interior space, with a shift towards catering to a larger variety of punters at Brewhouse. Owners Grant and Michelle Clark, who are also the brains behind Brisbane Brewing Co in West End, have owned the pub since 2010 and have worked hard to create an exciting new dining and drinking space. The front corner bar has been updated with a spacious lounge aesthetic, offering comfortable seating in close proximity to the main bar. In the centre of the venue is relaxed dining space, with comfy retro couches and pressed metal ceilings luring patrons in off the street. A spacious dining section dominates the middle portion, with exposed brick walls and birdcage light fixtures creating a warm and entertaining space to eat. Finally, the beer garden has been overhauled, with a new roof, water feature, pool table and sliding gates offering an expansive spot to kick back with friends. Keen to see the space in a bit more detail? The food
Keen for a feed? You’re in luck – the range of dining options at Brewhouse is substantial and satisfying. Patrons are more than welcome to eat anything on the menu in any portion of the venue, though the menus are divided into bar bites, a condensed lunch menu and a sizeable sit-down dinner offering to cater for every situation. In a nutshell, Brewhouse serves ‘damn good pub food’, with a range of classics and new interpretations of favourites across the board. On the dinner menu, seasonal mains will change twice yearly to take advantage of the best produce, while an impressive selection of signature steaks and iconic pub meals (think chicken parmy, Borrowdale pork loin chops and West Tennesee dry rub ribs) will keep mouths drooling year round. The bar bites menu features sizeable burgers, snacks and more. Brewhouse is also letting patrons know that the roast has evolved, with a selection of shared cuts on offer for groups at dinner. Huge portions of protein (drunk chicken, strip loin, lamb legs and fresh fish) are available with more than a dozen sides to choose from. Eating is thirsty work, thankfully Brewhouse has you covered with a range of craft beer (with a focus on brews available from Brisbane Brewing Co.) plus your favourite draught beers, wines, spirits and cocktails.

A new deck will be added above the beer garden within 12 months (with lift access), and the under-utilised upper story of the building will be converted into private function spaces in the future. A state of the art lighting and sound system has been installed in the front bar, with DJs spinning the latest hits every night. Several big screen televisions are dotted around the venue, with huge sporting events such as State of Origin to be screened with audio commentary throughout the premises.
