Pavement Whispers: Craft’d Grounds to welcome Brass Tacks – an all-in-one bakery, charcuterie and fromagerie

The excitement surrounding the forthcoming opening of Albion’s hotly anticipated foodie mecca Craft’d Grounds is approaching near mythical levels. With the official unveiling of the hub just around the corner, announcements regarding the precinct’s residents are coming thick and fast. The next cab off the rank is Brass Tacks, a providore (masterminded by two of the city’s best pastry chefs) that’ll tickle the tastebuds and sweet tooth of Brisbane’s gourmands with its jam-packed offering of baked goods, charcuterie boards, gourmet cheeses, salads and sandwiches.

Catherine Marot and Isaac Hull have followed similar trajectories to the top of Brisbane’s sweets scene. Over their 14 years of friendship, the duo both learned the baking craft via apprenticeships at Jocelyn’s Provisions before putting their newly honed skills to work in bakeries overseas. Upon returning to Brisbane, the duo embarked on their own journeys – Catherine launched artisanal cakes business Lady Bouchon, while Isaac conceived crust-centric concept The Pie Hole, each earning loyal followings of fans obsessed with their respective culinary creations. The next phase of Catherine and Isaac’s career sees the two teaming up, bringing their unique talents together under one roof to create Brass Tacks – a new bakery and deli goods store opening this year at Craft’d Grounds.

Named in reference to the duo’s desire to focus on (and deliver) the essentials, Brass Tacks will see Catherine and Isaac offering a range of necessities from their shopfront – not only their phenomenal handcrafted baked goods, but also a selection of local, regional and Australian-only products. A sizeable kitchen space will be utilised to make Lady Bouchon’s range of artful cakes and The Pie Hole’s sweet and savoury morsels, as well as salads, sandwiches, and croissants. Deli goods like artisanal cheeses, charcuterie and other provisions will also be on offer, making Brass Tacks the perfect outlet for obtaining your weekend must-haves.

Brass Tacks will open at Craft’d Grounds alongside Brewtide, Seven Miles Coffee Roasters, a yet to be announced globally recognised French restaurant, wine and cocktail bar, and an assortment of other vendors. We’ll have a closer look for you soon!
