Bosc boutique beer bar opens in West End
While a night on the town doesn’t typically translate to helping humanity, a new bar in West End is making drinking with a social conscience possible.
You may recycle your beer bottles and occasionally shout your friends to a round, but new bar Bosc is making it even easier for beer lovers to enjoy a schooner while helping humanity. Bosc – which literally stands for Bar of Social Conscience – is planning to donate 20% of its annual profits to the Misión México orphanage in Tapachula, Mexico, meaning that you’ll be doing good for the world even while chilling at the bar.
The fundraising tools are about as tasty as they get – boutique beers from the likes of Stone & Wood, Holgate Brewhouse and Fortitude Brewing Company. A small list of quality wines and an innovative range of gin cocktails also round out the list. While the bar’s eight brass beer taps will be blessed with an ever-changing line-up of brews, the first Sunday of every month will see one local brewery take over all spouts in the regular Tap Turn event.
Cloaked in dark wood and dotted with greenery, Bosc also offers a community art space in the front window, which is currently displaying the work of local designer and illustrator Tiffany Atkin. Owner Emily Tankey and bar manager Jenna White have a few more surprises up their sleeves, with shared platters, locally roasted coffee and an upstairs loft space all on the agenda for the coming months.
