If you are tired of the sickly sweet nature of mass-produced tonic waters, consider making the switch to the concentrated syrup of Blood Moon Tonic.

Blood Moon Tonic is a handcrafted product made in Melbourne, which is putting itself forward as a healthier and tastier alternative to regular mass-produced tonic water. This non-alcoholic concentrate is perfect for mixing into cocktails when combined with soda water. Blood Moon Tonic is made from a combination of organic spices, fresh citrus, rosebuds and cinchona bark – a natural source of quinine, which is the ingredient responsible for the bitterness in tonic water. The mixture of ingredients helps to complement the flavours of gin, but can also be used in conjunction with other spirits such as tequila and whisky.

Although currently not widely available, Blood Moon Tonic recently completed a successful crowd-funding campaign through Pozible. The funds will help launch three types of Blood Moon Tonic for general consumption – an original blend with cinchona bark, citrus and herbs, an Australian Native blend featuring native fruits, seeds and leaves and finally an unsweetened variety, which is completely sugar and sweetener free. The original blend is already available on the Blood Moon Tonic website, but head to the Blood Moon Tonic Facebook page for news on how to get your hands on a bottle of the new flavours.
