With vintage furniture, pastel teacups, paper doilies and a counter filled with lollies and homemade gingerbread folk to keep the kids busy, tuck into the grand selection of cookies sourced from at-home bakers and renowned purveyors. There’s the Hazelnut Chocolate Chip cookie by local lady Kylie Butterworth, while Melbourne gourmet biscuit bakers Il Migliore supply jam drops and freckle cookies. Try the particularly popular Caramelised Oat and Coconut biscuit from Teneriffe chocolatiers Dello Mano paired with a perfectly poured latte or steaming cup of tea to wash all that sweet indulgence down.

Like a pop-up wooden kiosk, Press delivers an array of fresh salads and wraps, ever-so-tasty Mexican gorditas alongside Genovese coffee, with most of the goodies homemade by Jocelyn’s Provisions. On the sweet side, try the 100% chocolate and quinoa cookies. A mixture of gluten-free quinoa beads stuck together with pure Willie’s cacao, this cookie cleverly hugs the line between crunchy and gooey. Available daily at the James Street nook.

Qwerk Espresso

A quirky little cranny in the suburban streets of Wilston, Qwerk Espresso serves up neat lattes, scrumptious sweets and one of the best slabs of avocado on toast in the city. On the cookie front, try the spelt flour melting moments made by Ashgrove local Kirstie of Queen of Cakes – the perfect combination of two crumbly, but not dry, biscuits sandwiched around lashings of jam and cream.
