Betty’s Burgers expands with a new location on Albert Street

What more can be said about Betty’s Burgers that hasn’t already been mentioned? From humble beachside origins, the coastal-cool burger joint as blossomed into one of Queensland’s biggest success stories. There’s no end in sight for the businesses expansion, either – just before Christmas, Betty’s Burgers opened a brand-new location on Albert Street, immediately swaying inner-city eaters with it’s menu of impressive two-handers, snacks and desserts.

We haven’t asked them, but we’re pretty sure the unofficial mantra for the Betty’s Burgers crew is “go big, or go home”. The last time the bun slingers opened a joint in Brisbane (down at Howard Smith Wharves), the team celebrated by hosting a burger party at the top of the Story Bridge. Betty’s Burgers on Albert Street opened late last year with more modest fanfare, but we are chalking that up to the fact that it arrived just before the Christmas break. Regardless, Betty’s Burgers continues to go big, with Albert Street marking the chain’s 12th Queensland location. Taking over the space once home to The Coffee Club, this Betty’s Burgers location is Brisbane’s largest, with 170 seats offering plenty of opportunities for burger-hungry folk to quiet their grumbling tummies. Like its sibling locations, the newly minted Betty’s Burgers Albert Street has the convivial coastal aesthetic synonymous with the brand, offering a slice of surf in the heart of Brisbane’s concrete jungle.

Naturally, you can sink your teeth into Betty’s selection of all-star menu items, but perhaps one of the must-try items would be a relative newcomer. The brand-new Classic Vegan burger aims to cement the oft-overlooked meat-free option as a front runner for your tastebuds, with a crispy fried brown rice and vegetable patty (think of it as a large, slightly smushed arancini ball) topped with tomato, onion, pickles, spicy mayo and lettuce. Joining the Classic Vegan is the beachy Noosa Classic Surf burger, which pays homage to Betty’s coastal origins by layering an Angus-beef patty, lightly battered prawns, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and Betty’s special sauce between two buns. For those that love the old-school Betty’s experience, menu mainstays such as the Classic, Crispy Chicken, Betty’s Deluxe and Bare Betty burger are available, alongside tasty sides, decadent custard ice-cream concrete and thick-shakes.
