Bella BBQ food truck ready to roll in to Brisbane
After filling hungry bellies around Brisbane with tender smoked meats and American-style flavours, pop-up market stall Bella BBQ has now evolved into a mobile food truck.
A 45-year-old caravan will be the new home of melt-in-your-mouth meat cuts, lovingly cooked on an imported American Yoder Smoker and treated to house-made rubs and basting sauces. Pit master Steve Hellyer has been manning the American-style low-and-slow barbecue at various markets around Brisbane, turning out ribs, nachos, burgers and wings to its loyal legion of fans, but now the couple behind Bella BBQ have taken the plunge and launched their own food truck. Servicing the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast from this weekend, the van will be rolling to a stop outside the Morningside Panthers club in Hawthorne from 4:00–8:30 pm tomorrow evening, Friday February 20, the Boggo Road Markets this Sunday February 22 and Wandering Cooks for Thank Truck It’s Thursday and Get Trucked For Lunch through March.
A new menu is accompanying the new set of wheels, which sees slow-smoked pulled pork featured inside burgers, on nachos and snuggled up to fries, as well as in fall-off-the-bone rib form, while traditional deep-fried Buffalo wings can be served mild or hot with blue cheese sauce. Gourmet burgers boast slow-smoked brisket or Wagyu beef, or test your appetite on the Elvis burger featuring a meat pattie stuffed with freshly grated cheese, peanut butter, strawberry jam, banana, wrapped in bacon and smoked for a few hours. If you’re lucky enough to grab Bella BBQ on a morning shift, take your pick from toasties filled with pulled pork, cheese, tomato and the house Southern-style barbecue sauce, or a PBJ maple bacon adaptation of the Elvis burger.
Bella BBQ has also launched its very own free app, which will send out push notifications to alert followers of the van’s whereabouts, as well as sharing menu updates, special offers and new products on the online shop. For trading hours and contact information, check out our Stumble Guide.
