Chic cocktails and winning wines spearhead Barbara’s new lease on life
One of Fortitude Valley’s popular haunts is undergoing a few changes. Fans of Barbara’s brand of slick hospitality needn’t fret – the Barbara you know and love isn’t going anywhere. The venue is shifting its approach to hospitality, looking to re-establish its status as an accessible and friendly hangout spot by bolstering the bar’s offering with a few fresh additions.
There’s been a flurry of activity at Warner Street’s Barbara, with some exciting developments in store for the bar. The venue’s original founders and the minds behind The Calypso Boys have joined forces with The Happy Horsemen (Black Bear Lodge, Blute’s Bar, The Brightside) to incorporate Barbara into its portfolio and take it into its next phase of life. Following the mantra, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, the team have retained much of the vibe that made Barbara a hit in 2015. Some cosmetic touches have been applied to the interior, with a splash of moody lighting pairing well with the venue’s intimate vibe.
Barbara 2.0 also comes complete with a refreshing cocktail menu, an enhanced wine list and a even table service. Patrons seeking a snack will be pleased to know that food is on the cards for the near future. As for entertainment, the bar is further expanding its curated selection of specialty nights with monthly live-music showcases curated by local outfits, a weekly jazz night, monthly comedy evenings and more to come.
