Balter Brewing has reopened its Currumbin Waters taproom after an extensive renovation

One of life’s greatest pleasures is sinking a cold one amongst good company. That’s why we’re so excited about the reopening of one of our favourite places to practise this particular pleasure – Balter Brewing’s taproom. After an extensive three-month renovation, the beloved brewery has once again opened its doors, revealing a bright and shiny bar space that’s a prime spot for knocking back a beautiful-tasting brew.

Nestled in the backstreets of Currumbin, Balter is the now-ubiquitous beer brand started by mates Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Stirling Howland, Sean Ronan, Josh Kerr, Bede Durbidge and Ant MacDonald. Though the company was acquired by Carlton & United Breweries in 2019, the spirit of the beer remains the same as it was when the lads founded it. A lip-smacking line-up of award-winning beers plus limited-release concoctions are what you can taste test at the new-look 571-sqm tasting room, which has just undergone a large-scale renovation that’s opened up plenty more places to park your keister while you enjoy a beverage or two.

Froth fanatics can enjoy added features such as brand-new bar areas, comfortable beer nooks, a redesigned retail shop, the option for table ordering and more taps. Oh, and did we mention the brand-new beer garden? This dreamy hangout has been fit out with lush trees, sky lights, alfresco-style seating and heated booths to keep patrons cosy during the winter months (because, let’s be real, once the mercury drops under 20, it’s basically Antarctica on the coast). The brewery is once again open as usual, with a rotating roster of food trucks slinging salivation-inducing snacks every day the venue’s open and live music filling the air on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
