Baja eases lockdown woes with a range of take-home taco kits and pantry items
There ain’t no party like a Baja taco party – because a Baja taco party can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home. Fortitude Valley’s Cali-Mex eatery is looking to lift spirits with a brand-new range of DIY taco kits, sauces and pre-made cocktails, which is a nice mood-boosting mix for those with the cooped-up blues.
We’ve only been in lockdown for less than a week, but already our itch for Baja’s brand of Cali-Mex tacos and zingy margaritas is getting too hard to ignore. The team at Baja is saving us from reaching for that dusty (and possibly out-of-date) packet of Old El Paso tortillas in the back of the pantry with its new range of take-home taco kits. From August 5–7 (that’s Thursday to Saturday this week), Baja’s kitchen will be selling assemble-at-home sets featuring eight tortillas, escabeche, jalapenos, your choice of smoked salsa roja or green salsa and your pick of protein. You can select between slow-cooked pork al pastor with achiote and pineapple mole, braised wagyu beef barbacoa with pico de gallo, or roasted mushroom with miso mole. Reckon you’ll still be hungry? Add-ons include kingfish ceviche, guacamole for two and tres leches milk cake for dessert.
In addition to the taco kits, Baja is also selling bottled cocktails including its signature Baja margarita, a classic marg and a mezcal negroni. Plus, those who want to keep the taco party rolling into the coming weeks can stock up on some pantry fillers, with jars of pickled bullhorn peppers, pickled jalapenos, green tomato, coriander and jalapeno salsa verde, smoked tomato and tamarind salsa, and pickled red onion with habanero escabeche all available. Folks can order via phone on 07 3625 0069 or online for same-day delivery (within a 5-km radius of Fortitude Valley) or contactless pick-up between 3:30–7:30 pm if ordered before 2:00 pm.
