Au Cirque opens for night-time nibbles and drinks

As children, the world held so much wonder that we’d try to push back bedtime by any means possible, just so we could enjoy a few more minutes of conscious worldly bliss. New Farm’s Au Cirque restaurant is in the same mood, pushing back closing hour so guests can soak up a little more happiness before retiring for the evening.

The good folk at Au Cirque are indulging our nocturnal whims by keeping the doors open and the good times rolling every Thursday and Friday evening. Previously closing at 3:00 pm, the bistro will now stay open through the afternoon and complement the winter twilight with a carefully curated selection of drinks and eats.

The new Bistro Bites menu offers small plates to share, including rosemary salted potato gaufrettes, duck liver pate with a spiced fig and pear paste, and porcini mushroom and parmesan arancini with a confit garlic and truffle aioli. Three main-sized specials will rotate each week, so cast an eye over the restaurant’s Facebook page every Tuesday to check out the goods on offer. This week sees the likes of coq au vin with buttery mash, a potato and goats cheese gnocchi with wild mushrooms and sage nut brown butter, and crispy skin barramundi served with sauteed Kipfler potatoes, crab ravioli and bisque sauce. Craft brews like Monteith’s black beer and Dirty Granny cider meet international wines and Genovese coffee, making Au Cirque an ideal spot for an after-work tipple.
