Do you remember the unbridled joy you felt as a kid when your mum or dad bust out the massive container of Neapolitan ice-cream from the freezer? It was the definition of happiness in a tub and whether you had a preference for the chocolate, strawberry or vanilla flavour (chocolate forever), we have some news that is going to give you all of the nostalgic feels. Sydney-based Archie Rose has joined forces with Gelato Messina to create a grown-up (read: boozy) version of the sweet treat in liquid form!

If you’re fond of a cheeky liquid dessert from time to time, go ahead and mark Monday September 7 in your diary (if you even still have one of those) because that’s the date you’ll be able to purchase the Archie Rose X Messina Neapolitan 200-ml set. The trio of tipple was conceived as a collaborative twist on the all-time classic dessert and features a Strawberry and Pink Peppercorn Gin, a Vanilla and Pandan Vodka and a Cacao Husk and Hazelnut Whisky. The three-spirit set is a celebration of exceptional produce and flavour and utilises produce grown and foraged on Messina’s own farms within Australia as well as partner producers in Tonga, Colombia, Belize and the Pacific Islands.

Each ingredient has been individually distilled by Archie Rose to create three very unique spirits ready for cocktail invention. How you use them is completely up to you however Archie Rose’s creative drinks manager Rocky Hair suggests a slight twist on three classics – The Grasshopper, The Toblerone and a riff on a Miami Vice. If you’re not super familiar with these creations, there will be a virtual cocktail masterclass using each of the limited-edition spirits on September 25. Tickets to the online class go on sale on Thursday September 3. The Archie Rose X Messina Neapolitan 200-ml set will set you back $109 and will be available online here as well as some independent bottle shops. Still prefer the ice-cream? You’re in luck – to celebrate the launch Messina has also created a limited-edition Neapolitan decorated tub which will also be on sale from Monday September 7.
