Discover Brisbane City’s newest hidden gem Anytime Coffee

While it’s true that some of the best food and drink experiences are sometimes the ones you discover by chance, often we don’t have the patience to go wandering when all we’re craving is a cup of coffee. If you are caffeine deprived and similarly impatient, allow us to clue you in on a must-try newcomer serving top-notch brew in the heart of Brisbane City. Anytime Coffee is a secretive and cosy laneway dispensary that is well worth your patronage – all you have to do is find it!

What separates a good coffee spot from a great one? If you ask Jack Wakefield, he’d tell you that a top-notch cafe makes you feel as comfortable as your own home. What’s more, a good coffee spot won’t try to shove coffee knowledge down your throat. That’s the kind of ethos Jack has adopted for his new Brisbane City hideaway Anytime Coffee, which he co-owns with Tom Cooney and Brisbane Roar player Scott Neville. Jack and Tom, who both boast extensive experience in the coffee industry, initially didn’t have any plans to open a new cafe (Jack previously owned BLVD Cafe in North Lakes, while Tom works for top-class roaster Coffee Supreme), but when presented with the opportunity to take over the nook that once housed Loading Bay, they saw a chance to add an approachable and informal option that offered a product on par with The City’s best cafes. There are two ways to find Anytime Coffee – one, locate the entrance to the alley off Mary Street next to the Midtown Centre building and make your way to the far end, or enter via Urbbana on Edward Street. The crew have given the old Loading Dock space a facelift to make the most of the small footprint available to them, opening it up to solve congestion issues and adding new shelves for stock.

The Anytime Coffee crew hope their product (both coffee and food) speaks for itself, opting for simplicity and quality over an extraneous flourishes. Coffee Supreme’s Five Star Day is on deck as Anytime’s house blend (bags of beans are also available to take home), while a rotating selection of single origins and filter brews are also available. The food has been selected to complement the coffee, with Salisbury’s Sprout Artisan Bakery providing a selection of pastries alongside sandwiches and bircher. Not a coffee drinker? No problem – Anytime also stocks cold-pressed juices from HRVST ST and kombucha from Probiotic Kitchen.

Anytime Coffee is now open to the public. If you’re keen to try it out, Anytime Coffee is celebrating its arrival with a free coffee day on Friday February 28. Kilos of coffee will be up for grabs from open until stocks last. For location details and operating hours, head to the Stumble Guide.
