Munch on market food by chef Alastair McLeod at Al’FreshCo

Much-loved Brisbane chef and television personality Alastair McLeod has kitchen experience that extends to Michelin-listed restaurants across the globe. But more recently Alastair has been connecting directly with market dwellers through his catering business, Al’FreshCo.

Alastair sets up his Al’FreshCo stall at the Saturday Powerhouse Farmers Market, loving how the markets allow him to talk directly with the people who eat his food.

Alastair’s own take on the French classic croque-monsieur is locally known as croque-madman and is the stand-out favourite dish on offer. Regulars also line up for his fresh omelettes, pork and fennel sausage rolls with homemade barbecue sauce, creamy vanilla porridge with Irish whiskey-roasted strawberries and bush honey, and Reuben and El Cubano toasties. Occasionally Alastair also makes treats like chocolate and macadamia muffins to satisfy those with a sweet tooth. Pop a few of these or some wheaten bread and salmon brandade in your market basket for an afternoon snack.

With all ingredients sourced from the farmers at the markets and local growers, Al’FreshCo‘s wholesome food offering sells out every week. So munch down early!
