Stick a fork (or your face) into some sweet treats from Albion Provisions
If heaven exists on Earth then we’d put money down that it’s located at Albion Provisions, which has opened today on Sandgate Road. We’re not just paying lip service (unless you call smushing cupcakes into your mouth lip service) – this is a seriously worship-worthy institution. This new manufactory of mouth-watering goodness comes from the team behind James Street’s dessert destination Jocelyn’s Provisions and is churning out cakes on cakes on cakes, as well as a scrumptious bounty of sweet and savoury treats for Jocelyn’s fans (new and old) to enjoy.
We know for a fact that we aren’t the only ones that have been waiting for the arrival of the newest location from the Jocelyn’s Provisions team, and now all of our butter cake-fuelled fantasies have come true. Albion Provisions opened today – Monday December 5 – at Albion Fine Trades on Sandgate Road, establishing itself as not only another spot to get your hands on some signature Jocelyn’s Provisions sweets but also as the new hub of production for both James Street and Albion locations. The new spot boasts an expansive, purpose-built kitchen with shiny new equipment from Germany and plenty of elbow room for churning, whisking and baking. At the rear of the shop – set to be fleshed out fully in the coming weeks with custom-made furnishings and black detailing to offset the pink hue of the walls – is a long window looking directly into the busy kitchen, where patrons can spy on the baking maestros at work.
Long-time fans of Jocelyn’s will be pleased to know that the core range of cakes and savoury items is readily available – we’re talking butter cakes, cupcakes, flourless chocolate cakes with toffee, parmesan rounds, tarts, bacon and cheese savoury cups and freshly baked bread. What should get pulses quickening even more is the news that the Albion Provisions kitchen will also be concocting more product lines over the coming months – think new cupcakes, savoury options, a new canape selection and more additions to Jocelyn’s artisan foods offering. If you are desperate to get a closer look at the action, Albion Provisions will be hosting kitchen tours in 2017, as well as baking classes for kids.
The Christmas period will see the Albion Provisions kitchen in overdrive as it produces more than 1500 Christmas cakes, pies, gingerbread and other festive treats. Those living or working near The City can also stop by Jocelyn’s Down Town, a specialty pop-up location at 480 Queen Street, which will be hawking a concise selection of Jocelyn’s range as well as Christmas goodies to take home to share or scoff down in secret.
