Discover the benefits of bee pollen at AB’s Honey

Imagine a life of a honeybee. They fly around to the most beautiful of blooms to suck the nectar into their honey stomach (yes, bees have two stomachs) and then regurgitate it into the mouth of the worker bees, who chew it to break down the sugars and then spread the nectar throughout the honeycomb.

Another amazing byproduct of a bee’s life is the bee pollen, or bee bread, which is the pollen the honeybee collects and mixes with a bit of honey nectar that will later be fed to the next generation of bees being raised in the hive. This bee pollen is harvested by beekeepers, is rich in proteins and contains more amino acids than beef, eggs or cheese of equal weight.

AB’s Honey stocks all sorts of honey products including ironbark honey, tea tree honey, yellow box honey, cinnamon honey, apple cider vinegar with manuka honey, creamed ironbark honey and bee pollen. It is important to remember that a one teaspoon dose of bee pollen takes one bee working eight hours a day for one month to gather. That’s a lot of hard work, so added to the health benefits of bee pollen, this product is a rare and highly sought after commodity. AB’s Honey is busy as the bees and sets up its market stall hive at Mitchelton Farmers Market on the first Sunday of the month and weekly at the Queen Street Farmers Market.
