World Science Festival Brisbane: Indigenous plant science
Long before western science came to Australia, our First Nations people possessed an extensive knowledge of the chemical and physical properties of our native plants. They knew which plants to value for their medicinal and nutritional properties, and which had toxic poisons that needed to be removed or avoided. Take a walk through our Australian Rainforest and learn about some of Australia’s useful plants and bush foods and see how Western science is finally catching up with traditional knowledge.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Wear sturdy, enclosed shoes. All materials provided.
Location: Meet at the Australian Rainforest entrance
