Women of the World Festival

Three days of girl power will take over Brisbane Powerhouse from Thursday April 2 to Sunday April 5, when Women of the World Festival rolls into town.

The Women of the World Festival is run by Women of the World (WOW), a global movement that promotes gender equity, celebrates women’s achievements as well as rallying for change to help forge a more gender-equal world.

This year’s Women of the World Festival imagines a future in which gender does not determine life’s outcomes. The jam-packed festival program spans thought-provoking conversations, multicultural performances, educational panels, exhibitions, short talks and more from a diverse array of local and international speakers, First Nation leaders and change-makers tackling important women’s issues. Highlights from the festival’s inspirational roster include the likes of former Prime Minister Julia Gillard, former Governor General and WOW Australia Patron Quentin Bryce, the sequin-clad cabaret ensemble Glittery Clittery, pop-songstress Christine Anu, and Spinifex Gum – a musical collaboration between The Cat Empire’s Felix Riebl and Ollie McGill, and Marliya Choir, an all-female, all-Indigenous group.

There will also be markets full of locally made goodies, a speed mentoring session and workshops that cover everything from financial management, to building a successful business and skateboarding.

Keen to hear from some truly inspirational change-makers? Peep the full program and nab yourself tickets through the WOW Australia website.
