Brisbane literary legend Nick Earls returns to the Brisbane Writers Festival for an evening of music, literature and drama as the stories of his novella series, Wisdom Tree, are brought to life in this cabaret-style event.

Joining Nick are four local performers – Bridget Boyle, Lucas Stibbard, Andrew Cory, and Charlie Cush – who will read and interpret his novellas, transporting audiences across the world, from New York to Vancouver, from L.A. to Alaska and then arriving right back home in Brisbane.

Local musicians will also be playing five songs specially selected by Nick to reflect the themes that run through this series of five stories, which explore what it’s like to be a family in a century of unpredictability, celebrity and terrorism. The musical creatives include Hannah Macklin (MKO Sun) on vocals and keys, Jack Richardson (The Grates, Superfeather) on guitar, Sam Pankhurst (The Trouble With Templeton, Superfeather) on bass, and Myka Wallace (Vulture St Tape Gang, Moreton, Superfeather) on drums.
