Wild Forms and Living Legends
Wild Forms and Living Legends is a free exhibition involving three artists.
Wild Forms features multi award-winning sculptors, Peter Steller and Mela Cooke. Living Legends by Laura Smith, a portrait artist, has work displayed in collections worldwide.
Sculptor, Peter Steller turns salvaged timber into Art with creations that he continuously challenges himself as he pushes the boundaries! With some forms only a few millimetres thin, he uses the natural lines of the grain to enhance and transform each piece into a unique sculpture. It is the wood however, that ultimately guides and determines the final outcome of his sculptures, as the internal beauty within the salvaged wood is revealed, making each sculpture a unique individual piece.
Sculptor, Mela Cooke, whose work has recently been exhibited in London, Brussels and Hong Kong, has after many years settled with her love of bronze and figurative work. Being a former physiotherapist, it is immediately appreciated when looking at her figurative sculptures that her hands have developed a unique intuition, to not only capture the graceful movement of the human body but also that of the animal kingdom. Her figurative sculptures convey the character and personality of her subjects with a simplicity of line and honest of form.
Laura Smith will showcase 20 stunning portraits of local Living Legends. Former international cricketer Alan Border AO, former rugby league player Darren Lockyer, playwright David Williamson AO and founder of Hear and Say, Dimity Dornan AO, are just to name a few.
This free exhibition is not to be missed!
