What’s on this Australia Day at South Bank

On January 26, relax and celebrate the laid-back lifestyle of our vast and diverse country with free festivities at South Bank.

What’s on
Enjoy free live music in the spectacular setting of River Quay at Australia Day on the Green. On from 1:00–5:30 pm, the event offers sweeping city and river views (ideal for picnicking), with performances from Birdman Randy, The Ivory Street Preachers and special guest DJs.

Then, watch a free, colourful Australia Day fireworks display at 7:30pm. The best viewing locations are from the Clem Jones Promenade, the Cultural Forecourt and River Quay. Keep an eye out for the special green and gold fireworks in this year’s display and for the first time, the display will feature six pyrotechnic jet ski performers – they’ll be launching fireworks while they perform in front of the Promenade.

Other things to do
Live music and fireworks aren’t your thing? That’s ok, we’ve got plenty of other suggestions to fill your day:
* Beat the heat and take a cool dip in Streets Beach, the Boat Pool or Aquativity.
* Have a barbeque using South Bank’s free facilities at Riverside Green and Picnic Island Green.
* Pack your favourite foods and have a picnic in the tree-enshrouded Rainforest Green.
* Grab an ice-cream and head for a stroll along the Arbour and the Clem Jones Promenade.
* Make the most of the air-con at QAGOMA and check out the APT9 exhibition.
