What the World Needs Now – A concert celebrating 2018

Upbeat Arts Queensland (formerly the School of Hard Knocks) will present their fifth annual Brisbane concert at The Edge Auditorium, State Library of Queensland.

Upbeat Arts Patron Mark Holden, will be appearing on the program as our very special guest artist. Also performing at The Edge Auditorium is Brisbane’s ladies only choir, ‘Musica’.

The members of Upbeat Arts asked the question: “What does the world need now?” They sensed that in a world of change and challenges, one thing stays the same – the need to come together, be strong together and create beautiful words, music and memories. So they all worked with their program leaders to build their concert around themes of joy, hope, friendship, love and inspiration.

“Members of our programs have been on a difficult life journey,” noted Philip Archer, Chair of the School of Hard Knocks, “and it is heart-warming to feel their passion for the choral and arts programs. Expect to be moved. Expect to be inspired.”

“What the World Needs Now” will feature inspiring performances by each of the School’s Brisbane arts programs (choir, music theatre, junk percussion and creative writing) and is presented in partnership with the State Library of Queensland.

We know that all who are part of our concert will leave The Edge with a huge smile on their faces.

Funds raised will help support Upbeat Arts, Queensland.
