Vince Jones presents Van Morrison’s Masterpieces

When The Beatles moved to psychedelic rock and Dylan went electric, Van Morrison hired New York’s finest jazz musicians and recorded two of the classic albums of that golden era – Astral Weeks and Moondance. Both albums had enormous impact on aspiring musicians and singers around the world. Vince Jones was one of them. Effortlessly blending genres from jazz to Celtic-rock, Van Morrison is beloved the world over for enduring classics such as ‘Gloria’, ‘Brown-Eyed Girl’ and ‘Have I Told You Lately’.

As one of Australia’s foremost jazz vocalists, Vince Jones leads a celebration paying homage to the legendary man himself at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre on Saturday January 6. A remarkable interpreter, Vince has invited a selection of the country’s finest jazz/rock musicians to form The Astral Orchestra, led by Music Director Matt McMahon, to join him in this musical tribute to two of Van’s most acclaimed albums; the magical Astral Weeks – a poetic, mercurial blend of jazz, folk and blues – and the soul/jazz influenced Moondance.

If you’re a fan of Van Morrison, this is definitely one you do not want to miss.
