You are invited to Variegated the first Brisbane solo exhibition by artist Jennifer Bell, held from 6 August to 1 September at Artworld Studio Gallery in Norman Park.
Variegated is a word we often associate with plants, but it also means multi-coloured, kaleidoscopic, patterned and intricate – so it was the perfect choice for Jennifer’s show full of intricate paintings, paper weavings and paper cuttings that celebrate the simple beauty of leaves. Through the meditative process of making these often fluid pieces she creates varied and elaborate compositions that capture the delicate aesthetic of nature. Her work explores the complex patterns found at the microscopic level through to the venation system and tiny details often overlooked.
