Unfinished Business – The Art of Gordon Bennett

Unfinished Business – The Art of Gordon Bennett

Arriving at GOMA on Sunday November 7, Unfinished Business – The Art of Gordon Bennett will showcase the works of the local Brisbane artist. Gordon Bennett (1955–2014) made a profound and ongoing contribution to contemporary art in Australia and internationally. Born in Queensland, Bennett lived for a significant period of his life in Brisbane and his practice is significant for its engagement with questions of identity, perception and the construction of history, and how these inform social and cultural conditions.

Unfinished Business will be the first large-scale exhibition of Bennett’s oeuvre since 2007, featuring works that have never or rarely been seen as well as his most admired and important paintings. Working closely with the artist’s estate, the exhibition will offer new insights into Bennett’s aims and ideas and range of media and offers insights into the working process through which he developed major series of work.

So you can check out what QAGOMA has on offer, both galleries are operating a free time-entry ticket system. QAG is currently open to a limited number of visitors from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily and GOMA will open to a limited number of visitors from Friday August 7.
